How to initialize lens encoders

Applies to: RedSpy

Goal:
Ensure lens zoom and focus values are correctly read.

When you need this:

• Encoder values shown in red

• Zoom or focus not responding

• After system restart

Steps:

1. Rotate zoom ring fully from end to end.

2. Rotate focus ring fully from minimum to maximum.

3. Confirm values change and are no longer highlighted.

Expected result:
Zoom and focus values display normally.

Common issues / fixes:

• Values remain red → full range not reached

• No response → encoder cable not connected correctly

Escalate to support if:

• Encoder data never initializes
